Ten days of festivities have begun in Iran to mark the return from exile 30 years ago of Ayatolla Ruhollah Khomeini to lead the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

When Khomeini came into power, he transformed the country's monarchy into an Islamic Republic.

Al Jazeera's Alireza Ronaghi looks back at Khomeini's consolidation of power starting from 1979.

  • Khomeini was a Brutal Dictator like ALL religious leaders who gain power, study human history! Iran traded in one King, for another King, period! Iranians will never be free until religious power and their Supreme Leader is removed. "Freedom is": a peoples constitution, a peoples government, human laws, equality & complete human rights, (no religious power or laws)! Science is provable, religion is man-made unprovable folklore & stories, like "Harry Potter". You can have God without Islam!

  • @MAZDAKPRODUCTION You ARE a retard, since you said "let's all just avoid bloodspill and let the changes come peacefully" or something like that. Then I said that iran is a theocracy that doesn't allow the religious status to change, that's why people are mad and revolted against the islamic police regime in Iran, then you got provoked and started talking about USA. -_-'

You are too retarded to know what change is.

  • @Imhornydadcomeinside Are you sure you want to go the route of name calling?? I live in the US, hence the reference. If you already assume people you talk to are retards then. I have nothing to say. Change happens when people start respecting each other and have intelligent exchanges of ideas. Judging by the name you chose for your youtube account you are too young to know what change is

  • @Imhornydadcomeinside I am not even talking about Islam man. I am sorry if that kinda of sounded agressive but I meant do you believe in God?

  • @MAZDAKPRODUCTION THE US have freedom of religion, Iran has not the same kind of freedom. Well, when did you see a revolution in the US that equals the revolution in Iran?

I don't live in the US, I live in Sweden, why are you even bringing USA up? Iran doesn't allow changes in religion in their laws and constitution, US does.

    Retard. -.-

  • @Imhornydadcomeinside Change??? Change to what?? Is everyone happy here in the US?? Is everyones problems solved??Is there all justice and no shortcomings here?? Sure here or there you could always undermine any nation by focusing on its shortcomings. The fact is If we embrace each other for whatever or whoever we are, no foreign power could take advantage of us. That is what Jomhuriye eslami is offering us. Do you think the leaders here in the US would allow chagne?? NO they would not

  • @badbooy13 I am not even talking about Islam retard.

  • @MAZDAKPRODUCTION Do you think that the leaders in iran would accept changes? they are an islamic theocracy, look up theocracy.

  • @SeeN0More Why not? These leaders are saying that they are under divine islamic support, just like hitler said that the arayn race were. They use islam as a tool because they know it's a good tool to control the people.

    So Shut The Fuck Up.

  • Fair enough, revolt in the name of religion. But at least make sure the religion is not some Hell bound nonsense.
