@lupumlisboa i went to Quinta de regaleira. it was a very lovely bewildering place with the masonic themes and symbolism. i had the gardens to myself. however i remember being scared because there was a lone male tourist in the gardens also and i thought something would happen to me but i was so enchanted by the gardens i tried not to let my fear take over and i ended up ok. perhaps a benevolent fairy of the Quinta was protecting me.

@fuzzysaunt I'm from Portugal and i live near Sintra. It's beautiful i know, and i spend most of my time there. Do you know Quinta da Regaleira? It's very beautiful and magic too... All the village seems like a fairy tale :)

Oh, sincerely, as a Portuguese, I desperately hope, that there's no hype at all about Sintra, formerly Cintra! You liked it, because it is, what it is! Imagine, you would have been there and had encountered a place packed with people, expensive, exclusively touristical! THAT would be the death of Sintra! Lets leave it in her deep sleep, although Sintra has, regrettably, awaken already

Very interesting place and I love to come back again in the future.
Check out my world traveling channel and watch it.
Thank you guys :-)
my husband & i went to europe for 3 months, saw 16 countries. but i never heard of sintra until i noticed it in a guidebook. i loved sintra so much i went there twice during the trip! one of the most beautiful magical towns in the world with all those palaces, green space and the atlantic ocean beyond. it's so under the radar, i can't believe there's not too much more hype about it
