@hatterasman06 Duran might have beaten Tommy in the lighter weights, but in the heavier weights such as Jr. Middle/ Middleweights no, buy '84 when Hearns beat Duran, Hearns became a complete fighter and Duran was starting on the downslide at 32 years old and over 80 fights

DURAN showed how great he was he outboxed hagler, and if not for running out of gas in the last three rounds he would have won!!

@cmjustis08 LAUGHING MY ASS OFF. LMAO. you're comparing toney to Duran?
Duran may have gone farther? Don't you know Duran is rated pound for pound top 5 boxer of all time? LOL

he was the greatest ever ,bar none.

Duran loads up with that right hand like nobody else. He obviously also loads up on fries and burghers to go with mucho cervevas. Gotta luv the guy.

I agree with you, he could have beaten Leanord in their second fight. And I still think he could have beaten Tommy Hearns. Again his lack of wanting to train at times would catch up with him.

much like james toney, duran has had issues regarding conditioning and diet... if only these two had the discipline, they might have gone much farther than they did...
I don't know......that heavyweight division got too many slobs.... Toney has great ability, but his career right now is average at best.....he CERTAINLY hasn't had the career that Duran has....

I accept the Duran & Toney comparison because both were under-appreciated defensively; the way they rolled & slipped punches; good observation. But to say Duran could of achieved more? Duran's career was a great success! greatest lightweight in history. And James Toney is a modern day warrior with a classic style.
