Gossip Girl: Chuck Bass - Blackout

An impressive feat, I finished this in 2 days!!! And I am very proud of how it came out :)

So I made it through to marimilla's Challenge 1 which stated as its only rule that we had to vid a song from a list of her favorite songs. I listened to all of the songs on the list and got a few ideas and even started one but I just didn't have the inspiration to finish. I even told her I wouldn't be able to finish in time, lol. She extended it longer and I still didn't feel I could finish the vid I started for it. But the other night, I was listening to my iTunes and this song played and after seeing the 'Gossip Girl' mid-season finale I knew what I had to do.

Chuck Bass is my favorite character hands down on 'Gossip Girl.' I feel he is the most developed character of the show and he deserves way more screen time than he's been given. But finally in the mid-season finale we got more Chuck time and Ed Westwick did a phenomenal job in his performance. So when I heard this song and looked up the lyrics I knew that this was a song for Chuck Bass. I have been DYING to vid Muse for the longest time now but have been a bit hesitant because most of their songs have scary beats to match and I haven't built up the courage to brave any of those songs. But this song was slower paced and I was super inspired so I decided to give it a go!

Now this is not a happy Chuck video. I tried to get his happy moments in there as best I could but this is more of a look into how Chuck sees himself. He doesn't feel he's worthy of being Bart Bass' son, Blair Waldorf's boyfriend, etc. He pushes himself to be a man he thinks he has to be when in reality he's a better man than his father ever could be without even trying. Like Blair said, he carries people. I tried not to focus on his relationship with Blair because this is a character study but Blair is a big part of who Chuck is (he's not Chuck Bass without her after all, lol).

I had a LOT of fun making this and getting to know Chuck's scenes better. This is my 4th time vidding 'Gossip Girl' and my first character video for the show. I worked REALLY hard on this to get everything perfect so PLEASE RATE, COMMENT and ENJOY :)

I must thank CatAtak12 and luvtheheaven3 for reviewing parts of this vid as I made it! Cat gave me the idea to use the noise and TV simulator effects and I think they came out awesome, don't you? So thank you for that and for helping me find certain scenes :)

Amazing. There are two kinds of Chuck Bass videos I like: ones that show Chuck as the complete badass he is, and ones that show how little Chuck really thinks of himself. This video, of course, being the latter. In my opinion, Chuck Bass truly is a tragic character. He's on the verge of hating himself, and he doesn't think he deserves anyone. Your video really showed that. Like I said, amazing.
