@mooimasmellycow You need to read up on the years of hard work put into trying to arrange sponsorship and donations for the SSC project to get going before you comment. Richard Noble's team were exactly what you describe, a group of blokes with a desire to break records and prove British engineering superiority. I'm well aware of how breakthroughs are made, from Frank Whittle inventing the jet engine to Fred Lanchester and the disc brake. The history of innovation is the history of Britain.
@doctordrew66 the bloodhound probably will beat this car. but this car did not have millions of dollars to support it, it was built by a bunch of guys with a need for speed. im sure that if a few guys from Britain had only the cash in their pockets to start up with, they wouldn't do much better. i support these guys, because alot of people are like them. they dont have tons of money, so they do the best they can without it ,by using new ideas and innovation, and thats how breakthroughs are made.
The last I heard, this thing managed a massive 400mph. Wow! Only another 367 to go fellas. Try not to mess up the salt too much though eh? The Brits are coming to do it properly soon and we'd appreciate it if you kept that mobile scrapyard out of the way. Thanks awfully.
