Lucian Matis is utterly fantastic in every sense of the word and I adore his work.

Anybody who thinks his work is strictly old-fashioned should look at his fall/winter collection from 2008.

All these models needed was half-smoked cigarettes dangling from their lips. They look tired, over-made up and the turbans are just the worst. It really distracts from the clothing. I also do not like the signature pose at the top of the runway. I used to do runway modeling and it's just bad.

great collection but yeah overall a little fashion backwards.. but in a good way... he updated the old 40's-50's style for summer wear.. i see a little bit of lacroix influence with dior with a touch of couture.. but all and all beautiful details and workmanship

his work is amazing, but those turbons...ick. Fashion has huge signifiers in it and the turbon is middle east meets just gotten out of the shower, completely distracting from his wonderfully crafted garments

Although he's not my favourite designer, I appreciate what Lucian Matis brings to the table. I don't think opulence and romance should be strictly "old world", I think every woman should have one beautiful, impractical garment, it's good for the soul. I'd buy a piece, I just don't want the whole collection.
