Rochester Dickens Festival 2008

I went to Rochester in Kent Saturday June 1st. This videoclip shows the Best Dressed lady. All the dresses are home-made. My complaint is that the hoops were too soft, no corsets and as it seemed to me, no petticoats. Despite that one has to admire these ladies that has made beautiful dresses in a short time.

This makes me want to learn how to sew. It seems nowadays no one knows how to make these dresses anymore much less corsets and petticoats.

But i have seen some patterns for the latter in McCall pattern books.
