Try as he might to sell this as a "peaceful" movement, it didn't stay peaceful for long, and I'm not talking about the crackdown. When unarmed soldiers began showing up to keep an eye on the protesters, the protestors responded by attacking and beating them senseless. The crackdown was the last straw, not the first. Violence has been flaring for weeks leading up to early June.
