This is the Rockwell Collins AN/GRC-220 tactical HF SSB military radio in VC-120 vehicle configuration. Collins product nomenclature for this radio is the 719D-15.
It can also be used as a man pack set , in that configuration it is called the MP-150 setup. The 998W-1 vehicle adapter and MT-1029 are omitted in that case.

  • What you saw in that Humvee was probably a VRC-12 military VHF radio. The VRC-12 indeed has the same mount as this radio, but that is where the similarities ends. The GRC-220 radio in this video coves the whole shortwave band from 2MHz to 30MHz in 100Hz steps in the modes USB, LSB and AM. So indeed, you could use it on the 11-meter band but doing so would be illegal as it puts out much more than the allowed 4 watts on that band.

  • i guess this one also covers 11mts, just wondering if the US army is actually using this ones right one, cause i recently saw a humvee for sale that had it's original radio, it is different from this one but the mount is the very same. and just want to know how much can one of these cost?

  • Whatever the upper or lower sideband I alway fail to understand , I think that it's hard to gather from , The SSB transceiver audio is like a robot voice .
