  • Crystal is a smart girl and this debate certainly has some interesting points.

Truth is though that there are many practical advantages with having models wearing the same size. Clothes shown on the runway are all samples and in need to be the same size so models can be replaceable and if the magazines shall be able to shoot them later on.

It has pretty much become an industry standard to have all models the same size nowadays. I agree that it's a bit monotonous but there are reasons to it.

  • @Nightberrii Bullshit. Clothes will always look better on girls like Crystal, who is now a healthy size 6/8. If you're toned and slim, then you can wear whatever you want and you'll look glamourous. There's no need to drop to a size 0/2. That's as ugly as a size 20.

  • @Gtgoon Valid points, but why choose such small sizes?

  • Love Crystal's jacket...and her of course!

  • goooood video

  • @Gtgoon well then good!

It is important to note that very few (if any) of todays most successful models wear size 0. Skinniest girl I can think of is Freja Beha (which imo is an extreme case) and she wears size 2.

Try googling some and you'll find that the majority of the top girls; Abbey, Raquel, Natasha, Anja and Karlie all wear US size 4. The sexy ones (VS angels for example) are rarely thinner than size 6.

They're all uber-tall though so it looks different when put in proportion.

  • crystal renn is so gorgeous.

if fashion designers need to keep the sample size all the same then why not add a couple numbers to that zero? make the norm a 4 or 6, nothing too drastic.

  • @sweetaliena CONT:Imagine if you have to make the samples in different size for the runway only, first you have to buy the different mannequins for the fitting which cost about $1,000 each and more depending the size, hire fitting models for every size, buy more fabric and the makers/seamstress/manufacturers will work longer hours. Also, if you have to correct something in one size you have to correct it in each size, more time again. This COST A LOT OF MONEY, not everyone has the budget.

  • All the decades that Crystal Renn described, there was always a sample size. Do I agree that we should keep the size 0? NO. A size that looks healthy, like size 6 or 8 but still in the concept of modeling. Because fashion, especially high fashion, is to sell a dream, a dream of high life. It's a logistical manner to have one size for every piece of clothing. It's easier to keep track, it's easier to fit and it's the base for the gradation afterwards.
