  • Can you explain the comments about 90 degrees? I am a cyclist, and am contemplating the BHR surgery. I am 41 yo male with severe arthritis. I need to be able to get my thigh right up to my chest, to get low on the bike. I can't do that right now. Will this surgery help with that?

  • The surgery may help with that but talk with your docotor to find out if he recommends a range of motion of that type!!

  • I cant recall any groin pain!! But my muscles were weak for sure!! Be patient and good things will come out of this!

  • Hey derek, I loved the video, very uplifting, I had my hip replaced 6 weeks ago at 40, and as you may have experienced too, I cant wait for my 1st romantic night with my husband, you dont mention anything on your videos about romance!!! Any imput??

  • In terms of romance, you should be feeling up to snuff in another 2weeks or so.. Take it slooow and you will be just fine!!

  • I went to the hospital today and my right hip will need surgery aswel but not for now but in a couple of years, i really hate it. how do you get over such a thing that makes you handicap its just hard to me. I feel like am lifeless.

  • @beatman62301 Get Hip Resurfacing if you want to stay active. It is like a real once it is healed. THR is for older patients. Go tothe best hip resurfacing dr.

  • Awesome! Thnkx for posting all these videos Derek! We appreciate it.

  • Thanks Derek. Muchisimas gracias.

  • Having THR tomorrow on left side....due to OA, I'm only 37 years old and still in pretty good shape, I just can't deal with the pain and stiffness in the hip any more. Not to mention calling into work often. Your posts are very motivational. I know I will never be able to run for long distances again but who wants to anyway. I just want to be strong again ! I feel so feeble lately! Any suggestions will be appreciated......looks like you did great!

  • You 're not even supposed to run with a THR. THR won't last long if you run. You should have get Hip resurfacing. It has no physical limitation. YOu can run, bike as much as you want once the hip is heal. Look up some of the world triathlons with hip resurfacing. Only go see a GOOD hip resurfacing doctor, if you want hip resurfacing.

  • wow u look happy with ur new hip might i add u look healthy tooo

  • I also had bilateral hip dysplasia and had my first THR when I was 18, I had my 2nd THR this summer at the age of 21. I would advise you to please me be careful when running. My doctor advised me that running would be a no-go ever again.. while i sometimes "cheat" i don't do it on a normal basis! Congrats on progress, i have similar "battle wounds" so it's nice to see :)
