That riff he plays from 4:03 to 4:11 is pure genius. Danny was one of a kind. No one plays like him. You might hear many other styles and influences in Danny's music. But no one can play like Danny. So improvisational and so creative. Truly, he is The Humbler.
Taking nothing away from Buchanan, he was brilliant, but played mostly blues, rock and blues rock. Danny could play anything. One comment from a Roy fan was that Danny plays with no feeling. No, he doesn't make a guitar face or twitch, so I am wondering how these so-called experts can determine exactly how much feeling anyone can or does play with.
Danny has such a rich musical vocabulary. You can hear so much from so many areas in Danny's playing. His tone was bright and sharp, just like his guitar licks.
Apples and Oranges, they were both great, Gatton was a blast to watch and hear because he had a sense of humour, and it came out in his playing..so many pickers in this world..not enough like him..
Danny was great, but Roy was more original. Danny himself used to say that "if you love Roy, you'll hate me," alluding to the fact that Danny borrowed heavily from Roy.

RIP Danny -
