Demonstration of the Ergo Baby Carrier, how to put your baby in and adjust the carrier properly for the most comfortable fit. Front carry is best for babies under 20 pounds. Babies over 20 pounds should usually be on your back.

Please note that I no longer sell the Ergo Baby carrier. This video is several years old, and I am leaving it up for general instructional purposes, but I no longer recommend the Ergo Baby Carrier, as there are better alternatives on the market now, such as the Beco Butterfly, the Beco Gemini, the Pikkolo Baby Carrier and the Boba Toddler Carrier. You can see them all and compare them against the Ergo on my Carrier Comparison Chart at http://www.theportablebaby.com/carrierfeatures.html

Enjoy!

  • True, there is a fairly steep learning curve to the Ergo and other similar carriers (like the Pikkolo).

That's why I mostly sell the Beco Butterfly Baby Carrier now...it has an insert that makes back carrying really easy, like putting on a backpack. It's also much taller and more slim-fitting than the Ergo as well. I don't even sell the Ergo anymore.

This video is about 3.5 years old. I was newly pregnant with my youngest here, and now he is 2.5 years old! :-)

  • @36hesperia36

Yupp my son is 30lbs at 11months and I carry him just fine on my front and I am not a big person. Im so used to his weight as he has always been a big boy that I dont even notice. Its easier that way if hes sleepy and we are getting on the train. Then I can sit down. :)

  • Can Portable Baby do a video on Beco?

  • I am now using my Ergo with a third child and I want to warn viewers that using a Teddy bear to demonstrate the carrier downplays how truly difficult it can be to learn to use the Ergo. I love it - it is beyond comparison when it comes to comfort - but the learning curve is steep, in my opinion. I recommend watching demos using real babies and toddlers to see the potential difficulties.

  • Just wanted to let people know, that you CAN use the front carry with a baby over 20lbs, some 6 month olds are over 20lbs and can comfortably use the front carry.

Stop using it when it is no longer comfortable.
