Martin Cooper explains how the comunicator on StarTrek inspired him to invent the modern day mobile phone.

HOW WILLIAM SHATNER CHANGED THE WORLD reveals how scientists who were inspired by Star Trek as children are surpassing the science fiction vision of the future foreshadowed in the program. The two-hour High Definition special explores how much of the sci-fi of Star Trek now permeates everyday life and advanced science.

Hosted and narrated by William Captain Kirk Shatner and based on his book Im Working On That.

  • I saw the original on TV and I thought it WAS titled, 'how star trek changed the world'

  • It is massively arrogant that Shatner calls the documentary "How William Shatner Changed the World" instead of "How Gene Roddenberry Changed the World" or "How Star Trek Changed the World", disrespecting Roddenberry who is the real hero. Shatner is an egomaniac who just happened to be chosen for that role as Captain and is hardly the cornerstone of technological developments Star Trek inspired. I like the guy, don't get me wrong, just saying EGO FREAK, and apparently proud of it!
