I almost bought one of his books. I'm so glad that I didn't. He maintains a friendship with a gay man and goes so far as to coin the term or use the term gay Christians. Their is no such thing. You cannot be Christian and gay. Naive to think so. You can examplify some Christian attributes though, but you are not a and no longer a Christian. False teacher in sheeps clothing. Christian book stores should not carry his books. Period.

I learned of Yancey from my Writing Professor, Jack Leax, who assigned Yancey in his classes. A remarkable man, and very brave. His essay regarding the closing of his Church, which finished up as an integrated gathering, was lovely.
I connect DEEPLY with his quest to fins God in spite of the organized Church, in spite of Legalism. It takes great moral courage to parse between the two.

Philip Yancey's book on Prayer is definitely one of my all time favorite reads.
Definitely recommend it, so many resources and thoughts in that book.
I'm still only around half way there's so much in it.
