I think the guy who hit him should have had a 10,000 dollar fine, 1 year in prison and 1000 hours community service.

It all depends on if he was under the influence, or just in a hurry and was deeply sorry and sympathetic... remember this is the US, a country built on feelings not book rules... if we are to live in this country we must honor it`s foundation

Unsafe Lane Change? I think there were plenty of other charges that could of been levied (Careless/Reckless/Dangerous Driving, Assault on a Police Officer/Public Servant, Disobey Police Officer, Drive on Closed Lane, Speeding!).
I'm sure however, the guilt has chewed him up on the inside.

he should have been charged for reckless driving, assault of a police officer with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. 7 to 10 years for a prison term. $50 fine what a joke.
