Dre used the same sample on "California Love", but that was around ten years after it was first used.
This is indeed a freely done cover of "Knick Knack Paddy Whack" by EPMD and K-Solo.
The Ultramagnetic MCs were the first group ever to sample this on "Funky".

this is a cover of an old EPMD song that came out in 87 or 88. No body ripped off Dre's beat. EPMD sampled that loop from an even older song. Shimmer dont know jack.
