Children's story read by the author and accompanied by artwork and music. "Echoes from the Square" is based on the true actions of the cellist of Sarajevo, Mr Vedran Smailovic, who played his cello during the siege of Sarajevo (Bosnia) amidst sniper fire and shellings.

  • I was asked to provide a DVD version of this video for use in a presentation that will take place in Sept 2009 (by Dr. Phil Zimbardo, who will be speaking in Dubrovnik). So I made a better quality version with clearer audio and my reading is less rushed. It''s only a quarter of a minute longer, but too long to upload here. So please let me know if you'd like a copy.

    thanks, Elizabeth

  • Dear Elizabeth, today I was in Zagreb listening to Dr. Zimbardo's speach. He was amazing! Your video was included and it touched the whole audience. Thank you very much!

  • Dr. Zimbardo is indeed amazing! I am so glad he is there to share his message and I am incredibly thrilled that my work was part of his presentation.

  • This is just such a beautiful story of this young boy and musical man. I believe it is a real account (of the people in the story)? Have you written this story? The artwork is lovely. Thank you. 5 stars (wish I had more). I will put this in my favorites.

  • Thanks CharTres -- I did write the story and you are correct -- the cellist and his actions are real (I met him and worked with him to make sure the details were right). The boy in the story is from my imagination. I'm very glad you like it!

    Elizabeth
