Here's a message from "Matt" (could be "Brad" too) with a popular internet scam. I listed my vehicle on craigslist (although they seek out Auto Trader, Cars.com, etc classifieds as well) and they called to offer to sell my vehicle for me for a "small fee".

A quick google search uncovers pages and pages of shady behavior and nearly 300 complaints filed at them through the Better Business Bureau.

  • that SOB called me today ! haha but i didnt pick up !

  • So this was the douche bag that has been calling me on private the past few days without saying anything and hanging up when I answer. I was really occupied with work today having my phone on silent. This time the private call went straight to voicemail. Btw, this asshole took my number from my Autotrader ad.

  • Had this guy as well call me, what a bum.

  • BS artists

  • these people (matt) and )brad) have contacted me twice on my raigslist ads in a period of 1 year hat a scam i called them back ast time and brad ( had left for the day) hahaha what a joke . makes me fucking sick

  • @smoodyfa Oh I wasn't saying it's not a scam, just that it's weird that nobody has a story about actually having a bad (or good) experience using them. I was able to find them on BBB.org and apparently people have complained to them, with 546 complaints, of which only 141 were for advertising/sales issues!

  • I found over 549 complaints, and complants as recent as 1/27/11, about not getting the desired refund. Not one single person sold their car through this service. its a scam. Its not even filed as a business but a charity. thats pretty fishy.

  • @smoodyfa Sounds pretty good, right? All it takes is a person who isn't savvy enough to do their homework and look this company up and BAM: fraud. This guy told me he could, without a doubt, sell my car without having even seen it in person. That is a red flag right there. This guy is still in business because people fall for things that sound too good to be true, all of the time.

  • @tubassee I am not trying to sound mean or combative. But it is 2012, what company doesn't have a website? This guy claims to represent clients and wants to run an advertisement. Where are the adds being run? Its still a scam, because someone out there will fall for something like this. Think about it? You have a person, who desperately needs to sell their vehicle and this guy calls and says "Hey I can help, gaurentee my service will work, and all I need from you is a small fee."

  • Matt Carter called me today. What a moron! Like i am just going to hand over $225 dollars to a "company" without a website, mailing address, or a phone number. What business has a "private number" that doesn't show up on a phone? This is what I get for trying to sell my car online.
