This lesson on Mind Bites includes three version of this song, you'll learn the alphabet hand shapes, sounds of the alphabet and signs for the song.
This is the American version of a song we use in class to help children learn their ABCs. It includes the hand shapes for the American Sign Language alphabet. We wanted to have a song then went slow enough for the kids to be able to sing and sign and ultimately learn their letters.

Are you supposed to bend your hand for P and Q so that the person sees it the way it is shown? Because that is really painful...
Beeevaaa 6 days ago 2
@Beeevaaa Good question. No, for p and q I just showed it the way you would see it. It should feel comfortable!

It looks like 'P' is a horizontal 'K' (or 'K' is a vertical 'P'). What's the difference between the two?
McSkouvy 2 weeks ago
@McSkouvy Yes, k and p are very similar. For k you point your fingers up and for p you point them down.

A bit confused because I have seen it both ways: for "J" and "Z" should I make a backwards letter so that it is seen by the other person correctly? Thanks!
BrunetteBBW 1 month ago
@BrunetteBBW Make it so that you are drawing it correctly... the person you are signing to would see the letter backwards.
