Guitar Comparison - Collings Electrics - by Tonedr

The three Collings electric guitars used here in order of apperance are: City Limits Jazz (12-52), Soco (11-49) and I-33 (10-46). I'm playing through an AER Classic and using a touch of chorus from a TC Electronic pedal. Specs of each of these guitars can be found on the Collings web site. City Limits sounded the best for what you were playing. Very nice clean. Crystal clear. You played it very well too. So far I have not seen an ugly piece of wood in your hands yet.

For this song and this style,the Jazz is my favorite. Is seems to balance the highs and lows the best. The challenge is they all sound so sweet. I think the "best" one would just be the one that clicked for the listener.

Dale, thank you so much for this video. I've been wanting to hear a comparison of your various Collings guitars in a format like this. I find the CLJ to be very sonically interesting, much like Dante mentioned. It's very woody and acoustic like-- very organic.

But it's hard for me to overcome my own personal bias in favor of the more "electric" tones.
