Have you ever wanted to know what it's like to travel the back roads of Laos? Just check out this video... Actually, this video was taken about six years ago and there are fewer of these old wooden buses still on the road. This road is now graded and paved (going north from Sam Neau to Sop Bao). But it's a trip traveling in one of these buses, I've done it twice, down south in Champasaak. As you can see by the video Lao people themselves have to squeeze themselves into the wooden seats and can you imagine how I fit my 6ft 4 in body into one of those seats? Let's just say my chin rested on my knee the whole trip. But that in itself is dangerous because these buses don't have any shocks so any bump or pothole in the road is magnified! But when you're poor and don't have much money and need to get to Point A from Point B, you can't be picky.
