IT STARTED WITH A NEED: Exceptionally bright children are more likely than other students to drop out of school, exhibit behavioral problems, and even commit suicide. They are "Geniuses" at the crossroads of life. Human Development Foundation's (HDF) OPEN GATE program empowers gifted elementary school children from low-income families to excel academically. Consequently, 80% of the OPEN GATE students who are now juniors and seniors are college bound. HDF offers its "Holistic Proven Solution" in elementary schools in San Diego City Schools and Escondido Union School District. Special classrooms for these 'gifted' students offer: English literacy tutoring, field trips, schools supplies and individualized attention to special and social needs, to prepare them for academic success in challenging and highly competitive middle and high schools. Parents' PLACE involves parents in their child's education and helps them advocate for their children. Since 1998 HDF has provided a program with PROVEN MEASURABLE RESULTS.
