Check out my other videos of the GCD problem
First a disclaimer: I had *huge* issues previewing my videos, for whatever reason. I either need to reconfigure fraps or get better video recording software. Editing movies proved to be almost impossible because of constant freezes and slowdowns. All of this vanished after encoding, although there's still obvious speedup (which is not on purpose). It's about 7 minutes long, and almost raw footage. No fancy wizbang music. If I could actually preview my videos, I'd have edited much better. Sorry about that.

With that said, I think near the end of the video really highlights whats going on with the GCD. It's basically trying to succeed at a client AND server check, and failing often enough that it feels like instant attacks aren't working. You'll notice how sometimes I manage to land cheapshots or shivs, but end up failing about half the time. My ping was a constant 95-125 MS, so there's almost zero lag.

Near the end of the video, when we're both mounted, highlights the issues. My client dismounts me thinking I'm in range, but the server is behind my client and veto's the check. When I eventually catch up to the server, my client veto's the check due to facing or range issues. You can easily tell this in the second video, because my auto attack fires after dismounting, but shiv does not. That's proof the server agreed I was in melee range, but my client failed. The fact I dismounted means my client thought I was in range, but shiv never landed, since the server veto'd it.

note - I know hortus wanted us to display our FPS during recording. I forgot to put it up in display, but I am 100% sure my frames never drop below 30. (Remember, fraps overlays your FPS during recording). This is with fraps running at an exceptionally high quality. You can probably tell from the video I'm moving smoothly (due to flinging my camera around).

  • Try gaining some skill instead of jamming buttons.

Anticipating movement due to latency is part of any online game.

  • boba...you sound canadian

  • Good luck playing a rogue when you have more then 50 latency.

  • Weird..?

  • Ffs learn to read, he is showing the change to global cd's in 2.3.2, not how much skill he has or anything two years ago from roguecraft. This is a fresh fuck up by blizzard.

  • Very nice bug, I think I may try it out.
