My late father was a member of this synagogue when the war broke out. His family was taken out to the forest and were executed. The bullets missed him and he survived. I believe there were a total of 21 survivors..
i visited tykochin this past spring. we started in the synagogue, we sang and celebrated the synagogues life and survival of the war. our group was then taken from the synagogue and to the market square. from there we were asked to walk to an unknown location. are group stopped at a trail into a forest. we soon learnt that the walk we had just done was done by the entire jewish population of the town where they were led to there deaths. They were all executed in mass grave sites in the forest.
I would very much love to know of your father's history. I have been the president of an international cantorial society and have a passion for the communities and history of eastern europe. My father was raised in Lvov.
