Some clips taken from many hours of riding the DR650 out in Virginia, and up in southern New Jersey. Gnarly rocks in VA, deep sand in NJ. It's not even officially winter yet, but I'm already looking forward to springtime!

  • @carrysmith2008 Glad you enjoyed. I enjoy planning these rides almost as much as going on them!

  • How is the fuel mileage on a DR650 when ridden on pavement?

  • @TechMaven I actually checked it out just a couple of weeks ago on a 140 mile street ride, and the mileage was right around 45 mpg. I'm happy with that, and I'd guess it's probably about average for the DR650. It would be nice if the stock tank held another gallon or so.

  • I've heard a lot of DRZ650's, yours just sounds so clean and healthy for some reason...

  • @r1gester Funny you should say that. When I bought the bike it had been sitting idle for years, and I was afraid the carb could be all gunked up. It ran fine, though, as you heard in the vid. The funny part is that as I type this, I have the carb completely disassembled, and soaking in some cleanser. Hopefully the thing will run as well after I put it all back together! :)

  • @maplegolfnut I just checked out the Seat Concepts web site, and their product looks to be a possible option. About half the price of a Cobin or Sargent. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be looking around to see if I can find some reviews.

The DRZ400 is a great bike, and I'm sure you're loving it. Lighter and more trail worthy than the 650. I had the 350cc version for a while some years ago, and liked it a lot!

  • @dprider02 If you decide to go for a new seat, check out Seat Concepts. They do a really nice seat for Suzuki DR and DRZ, narrow at the front so you can stand easily but widens under your buns so you get streetbike support when sitting. You can choose a standard height, "tall" or a "short" seat and foam density (soft, standard, firm).

Great videos. Just back to riding after over 16 yrs away. Got a DRZ400 and dual sporting like that is where it's at for me!!

  • I'm really looking forward to my next trip down your way in the spring ... with the DR.

I'm sure that you could plan out a pretty cool loop for a dual sport day on the forest roads.

  • Nice ride DP! I enjoyed your video, It makes me want to post some of my gravel and dirt videos. If you bring you DR this way give me a shout.
