I have watched the Jesse White Tumblers performance in Franklin Benjamin Fine Art School, "A Model Chicago Public School", for the past few years during the International Picnics. All my three children have attended the school and my family has enjoyed coming here every year to attend the International Picnic. It is a great experience and fun to meet old friends.
The Jesse White Tumbling Team was created in 1959 to provide a positive alternative for the inner city kids. Team members stay away from gangs, drugs, alcohol and stay in school. The team gives more than 1500 performance each year throughout the world (USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Bermuda and Tokyo Japan).
Jesse White is currently the Illinois Secretary of State. He served six years as the Cook County Recorder of Deeds and 16 years in the Illinois Legislature. He also taught school for 33 years, played professional baseball with the Chicago Cubs, served as paratrooper in the US Army's 101st Airborne Division and was member of Illinois of National Guard. A biography of Jesse White, "They Call Heroes Mister, The Jesse White Story" was recently published.
I have met Jesse White in-person and he is humble, down to earth and people person. I commend Jesse White and his entire team for providing such a great service to our communities.
It is good way to provide a positive alternative for the inner city kids. Team members stay away from gangs, drugs, alcohol and stay in school.
