The one thing that keeps me from getting an iPhone is the fact that your locked into what Apple deems as suitable. HTC is on a roll. Their entire line of phones gives you what the iPhone doesn't - freedom. Now with HTC Sense on the horizon, it only gets better. Everyone has an iPhone for the same reason they purchase every rendition of the iPod, it's fashion item with tech woven in. If Apples iPhone platform was a customizable as Sense, I would have got one a looooong time ago!

The only reason so many people (including myself) have gotten the iPhone is because a few years ago, Apple was the clear innovator and pioneer in this new era of smartphones, which will soon evolve into handheld computers, or "handhelds/handtops". A few years ago it was simply the best smartphone, IMO.

BUT now that this new era is gathering momentum, other companies are destroying the iPhone with innovations of their own. We should still all respect the iPhone though, for paving the way...

This is especially impressive on the new HD2... the only MAJOR problem with the software is a lack of a "dashboard" view, where you can look at everything that's open all at once... i.e. all open webpages, or all open conversations to easily switch between them.

Maybe that feature is already there and I just haven't seen it?

Wrong, they are money hungry. They make cheaps shit like buy cheap toys. That event cost nothing until they keep upgrading over and over. Think about it who would buy a laptop that cost 2,000 isn't it self or the OS ??? They digs for money. So, G1 is better official. Because they are new programer. Eased killer Both Windows and Macintosh.

ive got a iphone and ipod touch and what you just said made total sense,you are 100% correct,the iphone does many things brilliantly,no lag,great games but no freedom and the apple community sucks,they just upgrade every year and they make me want to upgrade,this looks amazing :)

I think the amount of customization offered is great. But how does it loose its simplicity? I think having widgets on the home-screen is a form of simplicity because people can easily switch from 7 pages instead of opening one single app at a time( for example, having to open the browser just to get to your bookmarks or trying to get to your most frequent caller by opening the contacts). In a sense it does offer a lot of customization but in a general sense has not lost its simplicity.

The words TROLL spring to min reading your post, I could throw lots of insults to you but don't need to. You see the FACT is that the iPhone has changed the way people look at mobiles, including developers, forever. Without it Android would not look like it does and do what it does, neither would the HTC Touch Flow exist. So yes, all those people are DUMB for buying the most revolutionary interface to have come out in years.
