On a recent family vacation to the South Shore of Lake Bastrop, we spent most of our time kayaking around the near by coves. Here is a small video of my son and I launching my homemade pirogue.

  • i built a pirogue this last summer, took me 8 weeks to build and the plans were free.for the amount of money to buy just two 4x8 pieces of plywood and all the finishings it was a very worthwhile investment and i enjoyed learning what i takes to build something you can truly use on the water..when i wear out this one i am gonna build it again only i have a bit more experience and it only gets better with skill and time...i hope

  • @bwalkus lmfao@ Crap-yak. I'm going to be building my first pirogue here in a few months and you have given me it's name. ty. I think these might be one of those things that just seems to simple and perfect to be true.. but is. @dmccoy26 ty for post. nice creation... and the boat is cool too. lol

  • How do you pronounce whatever it is that you call your boat? I made an 8 ft one like yours and just called it a "canayak". Great job on yours though. I was thinking of naming my boat "crap-yak". Lol. Mine is very amiture compared to yours. But it's just my 1st build :p
