Abandoned engines of Roanoke. They have been sitting in the woods for over 50 years. But for how much longer as Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority has taken over the land they sit on.

  • what ashme that they r just sitting there :(

  • @itachiguy123 All were saved two years ago and have new homes.

  • I hope they don't become scrapmetal.

  • @BigUnitBeef Everything has been saved since this video was made. I no longer make picture videos. I'm on Flickr and post my pictures there.

  • Any boiler pressure gauges looking for some that go to some were between 200 and pounds of pressure

  • @ble643 All thing like that are long gone. Either removed when it was scrapped back in the 50's or taken by treasure hunters.

  • poor locomotives i wpould call the local museum and tell them about the locomotives they would be able to save them

  • so glad that they were saved from the torch. and thank you for the footage.

  • @whatihave2do ok thts good

  • one of them is in portsmouth va

  • so shameful to see them in that state

  • After harkening back to the days when the scrap yard was still concealed, and it was easy to get in and explore, I don't regret getting some coal out of 1151's firebox. And if the VMOT publicly announced a volunteer restoration team I would be on it in a heartbeat. (PS to those who didn't see the "Uploader Comments": All of these locomotives have been saved, I think a museum in Portsmouth supplied the funding (but I'm not sure, Google it).) Nice pics BTW.

  • I like this video very much. I hope you save all of them. That would be great!!!!!!

  • engine 917 is saved and will become PART OF A RESTURAUNT!!??? since when did making locomotives part of a building bexccome presservation? granted it's out of the scrapyard but becoming abuilding is just as bad. i say tis cause i've seen passenger cars quote "prerserved" by incroperating them in to building and the results can be horrifiying. nice vdeo btw.
