Baltimore Orioles win 2015 World Series

The 2015 Baltimore Orioles overcame adversity and hardship, and a sub-.500 record, to win the World Series and shock the baseball world.

After years of failed trades for pitchers like Cole Hamels and Ubaldo Jimenez that did not work, the Orioles decided to implement a new approach to the 2015 season. In the beginning of the season, the Orioles signed Derek Holland to be the ace of the rotation, as well as Trevor Cahill and Hanley Ramirez.

At first, these signings did not work out, as Ramirez struggled early and Holland appeared average. Cahill was abominable. The team was under .500 around July when they suddenly got hot. Winning 8 straight to sneak back into the division race, the Orioles pitching finally began to realize its potential. Holland, Jorge De La Rosa, Brian Matusz, and Ian Kennedy finally started pitching well, and the Orioles ended the season as one of MLB's hottest teams, finishing only 2nd to the NYY.

When the playoffs started NYY was swept, and Baltimore won the ALDS in 5 games. Baltimore won the ALCS in 7 games, and the WS in 5 to clinch their first championship since 1983.
