Fantastic...great memories of my travels following the Sky! They were and always will be the best in my book! Traffic Jam was an amazing trademark...The Elks Parade was fantastic...Thanks for the great memories!
@fottyfoop Great observation! Best year for Sr. Drum Corps ever. I was lucky enough to march with Hawthorne that year. Everybody was excellent. Took us all season to catch up (which we did in Waverley NY). But you forgot the Sunrisers. Listen to their show, outstanding!
I saw the Skyliners for the first time in 1970 at the Hershey, PA show. Pepe Nataro played a solo in the Flight of the Bumble Bee. In 71 Sky won the DCA. I will never forget the photos that appeared in Drum Corps News in the next issue. Three pics. Joe Genero and Jimmy Russo, standing proudly after the prelim show with the number one salute. Next was a photo of Walter Winkleman with the caption... But Winkie Knows !
I love the Skyliners. Don't ever quit playing, Nobody else can do it like you.
they had 16 snares. but they were labeled snare 1 and snare 2. They were playing the same parts but sometimes playing different parts.
