  • It's a leap because your changing feet. A hop doesn't change feet.

  • @Souten66 The hop reference is because some teachers will call it a hop. For me, hops do not change feet. The problem with leaps is: is it a step or a leap? So is Buffalo leap shuffle leap or leap shuffle step? It depends on your speed. Going slowly, you don't "go through the air" at the end so it's step. If you go faster and "through the air" it's a leap at the end (same applies to the first leap). That's insane to me. I just call them all steps whether or not you go through the air.
