I love Denzel. He was absolutely brilliant in this film. I thought he was even more brilliant in his most recent movie, "Flight." Russell, however, and without question, deserved this one.

Just because Denzel had a flashier role doesn't mean his performance was better than Russell Crowe's. Russell Crowe was infinitely better than Denzel, not to mention he was in a much better movie. The only reason Denzel won was because Crowe had just won the year before, and his support had gone down due the incident at the BAFTA's. Crowe had won every other important pre-cursor award. Denzel just got lucky.

I would like sean penn to win. His performance was awesome.If he he hadn't been nominated the winner would have been denzel or crowe in my opinion.

Denzel has the acting versatility of a high school drama student. Russell Crowe's performance in The Insider shits on anything Denzel's ever done.

Look...No one is saying that Crowe is a better actor than Denzel. There is no "greatest" actor. Denzel and Russell are both Hollywood heavyweights, the best of the best. I do think it's a stretch to say that Denzel's portrayal of Alonzo in Training Day was better than Crowe's portrayal of John Nash in A Beautiful Mind.
