I'd never laughed out loud at an album being so bad until this one. It's actually brilliant in that way.

@metalkiwis Oh I see what you mean. Their first album was the only pure black metal album. It was The Principle of Evil Made Flesh. From Vempire (1996 i think) to bitter suites (2002) and every album in between, they actually had an almost similar sound each album. The drumming got slower slightly in Nymphetamine and GREATLY in Thornography and Godspeed, which is why everyone says they hate those albums. Darkly Darkly actually brought back their old style from 1996-2002.

@angelicbaby92 I'm glad we are talking about their old music. I miss it and am going to play their second and third albums tonight. Oh and right now I am listening to The Haunted Made Me Do It and I miss this sound badly. Every few years I need new thrash from the Bjorlers and crew. Is that too much to ask? I hope we get new At The Gates. It wont be the same but would give them a reason to write some more heavy shit.

@angelicbaby92 Well their first album or three had a real cool sound because it was black metal music 100% but with clean production. Purists hated it at the time, still do, but everyone else does it now. They used to have the sped up Iron Maiden thing going on guitar and now they have more of an American rock style. Their drumming slowed down tenfold as well. Their musical style has changed greatly from something like Dusk and Her Embrace to what they put out now.
I, for one, applaud the new direction of Morbid Angel.Their original death metal style was becoming so standard and bland, it's nice to see a band try to make a creative leap.

People who talk sh*t about Morbid Angel for Illud Divinum Insanus are so close-minded it's pathetic.
Every one of Morbid Angel's records is unique and of top quality. Illud Divinum Insanus is no exception, whether it fits your ear or not.
It's easy to criticize artists when you've never played an instrument, written a song, or recorded an album in your life.
What makes you think you're better than Morbid Angel as to talk sh*t about them with such ease!?
What have you people ever created anyway?
