Clip 1 of 3. Dr. Yousef Bozorgnia of PEER discusses the development of the NGA relationships and future studies being funded by the California Earthquake Authority (CEA) at EQECAT's 2010 Conference in San Francisco, CA. March 2, 2010.

Dr. Yousef Bozorgnia is an Associate Director of Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER). PEER is a multi-disciplinary earthquake center with research projects ranging from ground motion hazard, to geotechnical and structural engineering, to socio-economical impacts of earthquakes.

Dr. Bozorgnia received his B.S. degree from Sharif University of Technology, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley. He has 28 years of experience in earthquake engineering, including research and consulting in both structural earthquake engineering and ground motion hazard analysis.

Dr. Bozorgnia is author of numerous publications in earthquake engineering, including a book published in 2004 titled Earthquake Engineering: From Engineering Seismology to Performance-Based Engineering, edited by Bozorgnia and Bertero. He is also co-author of a Next Generation Attenuation (NGA) model, which is used worldwide for seismic hazard analysis.

In 1995 Dr. Bozorgnia was selected by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) as the National Earthquake Hazard Reduction Program (NEHRP) Professional Fellow. He is a registered Professional Civil Engineer in California, a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and Associate Editor of the Bulletin of Seismological Society of America.
