After some work in the workshop, Patrick is testing the new Rapier Blade for LARP. Very flexible and safe for a full trusting hit the new model will be available soon on http://www.calimacil.com
Please be nice with the fighting style of the two opponents, they are doing that for fun :-)
trop flex pour moi, passez-moi donc votre claymore écossaise. :P

It is partially realistic. Rapier was sort of a flimsy weapon, but the base of the blade is more solid (Heavy blows are parried/deflected with the first half of the blade and the hilt)

Looks waaaaaaaay too flimsy. I like Calimacil weapons for the realism, floppiness kind of defeats the purpose. Can't you core most of the blade and leave a segment on top for a thrusting tip?

Some people disregard the fact that if the rapier was firmer one would be unable to poke an opponent without inflicting pain. The point of this larp sword is to be able to poke your opponent even if they don't wear any sort of armour.

I have to agree, while a rapier should not be able to "block" heavy swipes, particularly from stronger weapons, it should be sturdy enough to redirect some blows without doing all the bending itself. I think the rapier is a bit too soft, based on what I saw in this video.
