Part 16 on my vintage couture that spans almost 200 years.
While doing my own research on this incredible dress that has survived over 15 decades and multitudes of wars, I came across a photograph on the Forbes website with a picture of a real Charles Worth gown that was made with almost identical fabric and bows in a different design and It has lead me to believe now that I may have something incredible in my collection. Many of the worth gowns have similar details to my dress and since Charles Worth never did the same dress twice because he was a true Couturier, It makes me wonder. This is a quote from that dress followed by the link to that picture.
"An 1888 court dress by the world's first couturier, Charles Frederick Worth. The dress set a world auction record for an antique dress when it sold for $101,500 at William Doyle Galleries in May 2001."

Charles Frederick Worth (October 13, 1825 -- March 10, 1895), widely considered the Father of Haute Couture, was an English-born fashion designer of the 19th century.

QUOTE FROM A PRESS RELEASE!
"Francisco Medavogs collection started off as a small sampling of some European couture designs to help him study FASHION design. By looking at the French seams and other intricacies, he learned about couture construction through the true masters of design. This hobby quickly became a collection of more than 25,000 fashion items, primarily 20th century European designs, with a number of them extending back to the 1920s and 30s.
"At first, I didn't quite understand why so many people were interested in seeing these clothes," says Francisco. "For me, the clothes were simply great examples of what I was able to study while at the Fashion Institute. Now, I feel that my collection is the beginning of a wonderful museum collection."
"I'd love to open the first American Fashion Museum, devoted solely to fashion and couture, similar to Zandra Rhodes' museum in London."

  • Reaseach shows worth didnt open a shop till 1858 be nice if U not mis inform people There's no shame in it and I dont think you un-smart unless U insist this pink confection is 1855! Worth by now a jr. partner in the firm urged his partners 2expand into dressmaking but they hesitated 2risk their reputation in a business as low-class as dressmaking Worth found a wealthy Swede Otto Bobergh who was willing 2 bankroll the venture and opened the dressmaking establishment of Worth and Bobergh in 1858

  • Why don't you just shut up, where in my video saids it is a worth? This is an 1850's dress not 1880's or 1890's idiot.

  • The cut of the gown suggests more mid 1890's then you had mentioned in the video of being "1850's". An impressive piece nonetheless.
