Thanks ever so much Dylan! A lovely tip. Would you say people don't need to use things like iShowU now, or are there things these apps can do screen recording wise that QuickTime X can't?

Glad you liked the tip - probably the only screen recorder still worth it is Screenflow, but most software such as iShowU is not really much better than quicktime. Quicktime x is probably the best and easiest for the average user.

Many thanks! For me it's the difference between three functions (record, trim, upload) and about 300, plus the difference in smoothness between 9 fps and 30 fps: ScreenFlow is a full-featured video editor, you can zoom in on a feature, highlight the cursor or a window, delete bits in the middle, add multiple video and sound tracks, include mouse clicks or not, have a red circle to show when you've clicked, include what the iSight camera sees, add text, rotate clips in 3D, worth $100 any day!
