ENCOURAGEMENT OF HIGHLY TALENTED MUSIC STUDENTS

The Leopold-Mozart-Institute offers the education in Keyboard Studies, String Studies, Brass, Wind and Percussion Studies
and Vocal Studies for highly talented children and teenager.

AIMS:
-Encouragement is oriented towards developing professional musicality, towards experiencing joy in music-making, artistic creativity and promoting the self-realisation of the talented student so as to lead to extraordinary musical achievements.
-The conceptual plan of the institute is based on experience made internationally and within the university as part of the policy to encourage students with specific musical talent.
-By creating effective conditions the aim is to make a continuous musical, artistic and personal development of highly talented children and young people possible. The encouragement of particularly talented students combines the following

SUBJECTS:
-Specific musical ability in playing instruments, and specific musical knowledge
-Artistic and musical experience and development of skills such as: practical music-making in various learning areas, concerts, presentations, courses, work in an orchestra, camps, study trips, student exchanges, projects
-Individual encouragement of specific talents by professors and experts
-Participation in the International Summer Academy
Individual care by the Advice Centre at the Mozarteum University

Scientific monitoring, evaluation of the quality and content of the course Admittance examination:

The level of musical talent is assessed by:
-an audition in which a prepared programme is played encompassing various styles and epochs
-rehearsing a new piece within 30 minutes
-evidence of particular musical listening ability and musical creativity
-an interview with the applicant

Subjects to be studied:
-Individual artistic teaching
-Chamber music
-Work with a coach
-Aural training and music theory
-Conducting and composition
-Improvisation, movement, singing (optional)
-The possibility to attend inter-disciplinary courses in cooperation with the Paris-Lodron University in Salzburg
