That's a cool fan. I had a big old stand up fan like that, but it burned out and went away long ago..

Mine may be dead, too, but I hate to give it up. My uncles used to do a lot of work for Westinghouse Air Brake in Pittsburgh and I'm pretty sure that's where it came from.
Not sure if it was in a scrap pile and they were allowed to take it or if it was a five-finger discount. Either way, it's a little piece of family history and I'd like to hang on to it.

Thanks. I'm in the middle of a move, so I won't be working on it soon. I'd still like to know how to do it for when things settle down and I have the time.

well what you have there is a 20's or 30's westinghouse sadly you have the same problem i have what you gonna need to do is solder leeds on there by taking off that little cover held in with the 2 screws and there should be some "surplus cord and once you make your solder heatshrink over it or electricaltape the stator/armature is a pain to get out of these and is almost impossibel im gonna pm you a link to a site where you can learn more

It looked like the wire had a rubber insulator that disintegrated with age. Any thoughts on how to get it operational would be appreciate.
