This movie was pretty epic.

Say what you will, but I will always think that Vinterger's best work, a masterpiece I would say, is Festen. No movie in this world has overshadowed it. Not only the format, the acting, the cast, the script, the dark scenes in the bedroom, the candle, the mother's smile, but also the very lack of conventionalisms.

As for Preisner, well ... always my favourite composer, still intact.
