@Trolovski Inside the blue eye of the giant named Macumba, everything is possible.

If I remember correctly, this scene was quite different in the books. And yes, it took some time for gold to melt. However, the temperature needed to melt gold is 1,100 deg C or 1,800 deg F. So, this scene would be impossible in reality.
Fiction or not, Martin usually has a very realistic approach. In his books, horses are horses, wolves are wolves, stones are stones etc.
Only purely fictional elements (such as dragons) aren't realistic.

the thing with the wolves gets me every time...

Looks like the joke's on you, savage

@seanzoz I like your thinking. But I am a fiction purist and I believe that when you're writing fiction you can mold it the way you want to. But I understand your point.

LOL! Loved the "Tell the Queen" thing. But I think people shouldn't try to find physic mistakes in Fantasy movies/series/books. Gold could perfectly melt at 0ºc in a fictional world, the author just had to write to it to make it true. If we're going that way let's just then look at the existence of Dragons and giant wolves and winter zombies.

@AronofskysKumo It's is known as the suspension of disbelief good sir. Up to a certain point, a story is exposing the world of the story, and explaining what's allowed and what isn't within that world. Anything it establishes clearly, the reader will be willing to accept, and suspend disbelief over. Some elements in this series are based on our world like gravity, human anatomy, building materials (stone, wood), precious metals (gold, silver) and temperature, which also retain their properties.
