Paraglider launching from Mt. Gubong in Chuncheon, Korea

I went up to the paragliders' launching point, which is very near my home, on Sunday, December 14, with the intention of soaking up the view and attempting to play some Native American flute (and it was so COOOOLD!) Almost as soon as I finished my trudge up to that spot, one of the regular paragliders appeared with his wife and proceeded to set up for a launch. I was more than happy to capture this on video, and after re-watching, I can conclude two things: (1) It must be an amazing experience, and (2) I've GOT to try this myself soon! Please enjoy the beauty and serenity of Chuncheon, Korea from this special vantage point with my short, quiet video.

i am wondering where this is thou? i am in South korea near suncheon about an hour and a half from gwangju and searching for somewhere to fly! any info would be spectacular! cheers

Chuncheon is the capital of Gangwon province. it's roughly 2 hours east of Seoul. Frankly, I wouldn't actually recommend this particular place to do paragliding as it is extremely small, and the landing site is a tiny rectangular area that rests directly between two highways, lots of trees, and some very up-close-and-personal electric power lines, so... quite the challenge, if you're up for it! I don't do this sport myself (yet...), but I don't think I'd like to start out here. YMMV

This is not the regular launch for the chuncheon club. They have a better launch and huge landing area nearby.

At the time I made this video, this WAS their launch site. They have since moved to the place you are referring to. You're right; it is MUCH better!

I appreciate the compliment. I've been observing this man and his group (there are about 15 of them as far as I know) doindg their regular launches, but this was the first time I was up at the top with them.
