She's talking about the Madonna-Whore Complex (and that really exist!), not about Madonna the singer.

This is about men who grew up with a cold and distant mother, these men are seeking women who look like their mother to fill a lack of affection, sex is impossible, subconsciously, that would be an incest.

That's why she says "I don't want to be your mother".

@EduardoSaenzful wow you're angry so what if cyndi flopped during the 90s i still loved her work back then, popularity doesnt always mean something is good and anyway cyndi's last two albums were nominated for grammys nd her most recent spent 14weeks at number one and was the most succesful blues album of 2010 so she isnt a total has been :)
