Francis Poulenc's 2nd Motet for a time of Penitence.
Sung March 15, 2009 in Denver, Colorado

Sung in Latin; here are the words:
Vinea mea electa, ego te plantavi:
Quomodo conversa es in amaritudinem,
ut me crucifigeres
et Barrabam dimitteres?

Sepivi te et lapides elegi
ex te et oedificavit turrim.

O vineyard, my chosen one, I planted you:
How have you been changed to bitterness,
that you would crucify me
And set Barrabas free?

I built a fence around you and picked the stones from you and built a watchtower.

  • Thank you, it was indeed a difficult piece, but well worth the work for the spiritual blessing.
