I always exercise the cyclic (forward - back - left - right) and tail (left - right) before take-off
At the same time - the more you move the stick - you can 'see' and 'feel' and 'hear' the forces (also helps when lifting in to a breeze)
Before my first Boeing flight - I saw the captain outside checking the flaps - by grabbing them and waggling them with his hands - making sure they were still firmly 'attached' - that stuck in my mind

Is the clear tube on the botom of the heli for the antenna wire?

you can't bind a Spektrum Tx with another brand of 2.4Ghz Rx. It does not work that way. manufacturer's Rx's and Tx's are not interchangable.
