In Australia you indicate which side you want them to pass on, (point them by).
We have roadtrains here (trucks with 3+ trailers) and it is impossible to get a clear view of what's coming. The roadtrain indicates towards the overtaking lane when it is safe to move into that lane and pass.
That is where it all started in Australia, if you want someone to pass, you indicate which side. This is an Australian race so he pointed him by correctely.
