An estimated 30 million Americans suffer from an eating disorder, and anorexia has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness. Family members of victims often suffer the consequences of the disease as well. Are there early warning signs to watch out for? What can you do if you suspect a loved one is anorexic or bulimic?

  • Dr. Phil really shouldn't have said the whole being on death's door thing. He basically said she wasn't ill enough to be severely anorexic or close to death. I know as someone with an ED I would have taken that pretty badly. I would have taken it as "I'm still not thin enough to be considered sick enough". Just my POV. Otherwise he didn't do too badly on this one lol.

  • she's bulimic, not anorexic.

  • @Gianella127 I was thinking the same :D lol

  • she is in denial. She acts too perky and has a perfect little life. she needs to stop blaming others for her disease.own your problem.

  • @poisonedxveins yeah he basically just sad to hear in eating disorder language, your fat.

  • Sherri is doing well. This is going to be a fight for the rest of her life, though it is easier with time. She has a great support network and more love than most.

  • I hate Dr. Phil, but he did okay. I respect him a bit more for seeing an ED as a SERIOUS matter, and not a quick-fix scenario.

  • she reminds me of Evan Rachel Wood:)

  • They are both SO beautiful. I hope that they are okay now.

  • @julieandrews9 She went to an inpatient treatment, gained weight, and is now at a healthy weight. She is doing amazing and still coaching cheerleading and gymnastics in our hometown. Although it is still a struggle everyday, she is doing extremely well, going to school for education and loving life.

  • redheadsforevs77: the goal of a bulimic isn't not to keep a healthy body weight. They will lose as much weight as they can. They only usually have a higher weight than anorexics because purging isn't as effective for weight loss

  • does anyone know what happened to sherri?
