The Inner Life of the Cell

Harvard University selected XVIVO to develop an animation that would take their cellular biology students on a journey through the microscopic world of a cell, illustrating mechanisms that allow a white blood cell to sense its surroundings and respond to an external stimulus. This award winning piece was the first topic in a series of animations XVIVO is creating for Harvard's educational website BioVisions at Harvard.

But who can say how difference is DNA back then in compare with DNA now. Now, a cell needs billions of base pairs to function. The very first cell would be infinitely simple relative to today's cell, so what may seems impossible today may be possible then. Chemists does not guide the process, they don't work like mechanism build a car, piece by piece. They put what they thoughts were needed into what they thought was ancient environment and observe. The mechanism works itself out, spontaneously.

I love the XVIVOAnimations.

But they are suboptimal, which makes it difficult for me to follow the stunning visuals. They all suffer from a massive lack of detailed explanation (spoken or written).

What a pity.
